BASILICA JULIA

Initiated by Caesar in 54 B.C., it was completed by Augustus in dedication of Caesar. It accommodated the 4 sections of the Roman Assizes governed by 105 judges-the Centulviri. The Cloaca Massima (sewer) runs along the side crossing the Forum piazza toward the Velabro and then the Tevere.
