Erected as a result of Octavian's vow before the battle of Philippi (Macedonia, 42 B.C.) where Caesar's assassins were defeated. A large structure in white Carrara marble with 8 columns in the front and 7 on the sides. Today only 3 columns and a pilaster strip remain. It was used for Senate meetings regarding wars and triumphs. |
