SEMICIRCULAR PORTICOS

The paved piazza is lined with deep porticos and spacious 2 level exedras with rectangular niches that held statues. The architectural elements and pavement in colored marble came for Asia Minor and northern Africa. Urban praetorian judicial activities dealing in civil causes took place here.
